Work underway on Jane's Trail
  Funds from a private donor and a Clean Ohio Conservation Fund grant in November 2007 allowed the Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy to close on the last piece of property to begin work on Jane’s Trail.

Non-profits form Nature Museum committee
  The Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy and the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society have joined forces to work together as the Lake Erie Islands Nature Museum Committee on South Bass Island to purchase a 1.2 acre parcel of woodland on South Bass Island.

Victory Wood's lot donated as open space
  In January the Lake Erie Islands Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy (LEIC-BSC) accepted the donation of a lot in the Victory Woods subdivision to preserve as open space.
 
The gift came from islander and frequent LEIC-BSC supporter Richard Gump.
  The lot is wooded with a mix of common hackberry and maple with tangles of wild grape and staghorn sumac.
